Frame Relay

I thought before i get right into the CCIE R&S books and everything that goes with it, i would go back to basics and revisit all things frame relay.

At the moment i am going through, Cisco Press - Frame Relay Solutions Guide.
I am doing labs/notes along with it just to reinforce.

After this book i will go through Net Masterclass Frame Relay, along with replicating there labs.
I think this will be have the benefit of getting me back into study routine , and for when i read the R&S book which will go over it.

The CCIE Journey

After a rest over X-mass i have decided to go down the path of CCIE R&S.

Tomorrow i will start the study, i have been collecting material, ordering the books, upgrading hardware that can be, buying equipment that i don't have.

I have no illusions on what lays ahead, especially as i am not in the field.
But lets see how i feel when i get through the reading and labbing.
I think i will have a better idea of whether i can do the lab or not.

Going to start with Cisco Press Frame Relay solutions guide.

Anyways i will update with notes as i go.

P.S

some of the reading to get through :)

Cisco CME

Well i have been messing around with CME, never used it. As ever you have to try it at least once.
I would say it wasn't what i expected, very basic.
The CLI really is the only way to fly.
Setup single and duel line, duel line was interesting.

Next i moved onto a Pix 506E i had in the corner, after using the ASA last week this really fealt like a step backwards when it came to configuring.

But it still has some good uses i will be hanging onto this guy.
Might do a double firewall for a DMZ just because i can ;)

Anyways back to the work of,what can i build next.

Messing around with an ASA 5505

Well started mess around with my 5505 ASA at home.

Bought this a while back during CCNP study's.
thought i would fire it up and see how i go. 4 days into it i have got it where i want it.

started from transparent then onto routed mode with NAT.
which was no good as i already NAT on the front router Cisco 1721 with ADSL card.

today got it working with no NAT.

Loving these box's, lots to learn but worth the hair pulling at times.

Took ONT Exam

Well i sat the ONT exam 16-11-2009,

I passed, found it the easiest exam of the 4 exams for CCNP.

It gives me great pleasure to say YEAHAWWWWWW this part of the journey is over.

Cisco CCNP complete, it has been a journey especially when i don't work on them daily.

With a lot of determination and commitment it can be done.

Whats next ???

I am really thinking of going through the CCIE R&S study path.

Anyways, all i can say is go for it to anyone thinking of it, dont think DO.

Cisco ONT exam

I got right into the ONT exam study, by the middle of September.

It looks like i will be going in for this exam sooner rather than later.

Found this one very boring until i got to the hands on,now were talking.

Great enjoyment with the control.

Well if i get through this one thats it for the CCNP journey ALL DONE.

Still thinking that i will rest over X-Mass, just play with some new equipment i have but not used yet, ASA 5505, PIX, and waiting on some FXS cards, to do some analog with the VOIP phones i have.

After X-Mass i will see if i want to go for the CCIE ticket.

Passed Cisco ISCW !!!

Well i have been lazy, never updated the site during study. So now i will :)

I passed the Cisco ISCW eam 2 weeks ago.
I must say this exam had a little bit more to it that i thought, but all was good in the end.

I just started on the ONT exam, providing all goes well i will have CCNP by X-mass.
(fingers crossed)

So yeah i can see the end of the tunnel, one more to go. Or is it.

I have decided i might do CCNA Wireless, security, maybe voice after X-mass.
Or do the study for CCIE R&S. i have all the equipment and training materials.

Anyways hope to be back before X-mass with a Yeahhhh Baby Cisco CCNP.

:)
